John McDermott serves as Senior Vice President with Sperry Van Ness. His commercial real estate experience includes the ownership and development of condominiums, mobile home parks, neighborhood anchored retail centers, recreational vehicle parks, and apartments and 32 years of real estate and finance experience.

Prior to joining Sperry Van Ness, McDermott served as a broker, manager, and executive in California, Arizona, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. for Marcus & Millichap. Previously, McDermott served as the manager of nationwide lending for First Federal Savings of Arizona where he was responsible for lending, loan administration, secondary marketing, foreclosure and trustee services, REO administration, data processing and mortgage banking. In addition, McDermott was the founder and chief credit officer for a De Novo Savings and Loan in Phoenix, Arizona (Sentinel Savings).

McDermott is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and is Editorial Board for "Development" magazine.

McDermott earned a Bachelor of Science in real estate and finance with a minor in psychology from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.
